Ranbir Kapoor is in the midst of a controversy after the actor was recently summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Mahadev online betting app case that has several names involved from the entertainment industry as well. The Animal star was asked to be present in front of the probe agency on October 10. Paparazzi recently caught a glimpse of him in Mumbai. The Barfi star had sought a two-week extension for his ED summons and successfully avoided the paparazzi during his public appearance, as shown in a widely circulated video. It is reported that the actor is under scrutiny for his involvement in promotional activities related to the app currently under investigation. Ranbir sported a casual look with a loose tee and a denim jeans matching it with white sneakers and cap. He was spotted outside a clinic. For those who are uaware, The case revolves around purportedly extensive hawala operations carried out using the platform, funneling betting proceeds into offshore accounts. "Chandrakar and another promoter of the MOB platform, Ravi Uppal, have established a significant presence for themselves in the UAE. Their unexplained and unlawful wealth is being openly showcased," stated sources from the ED.
Additionally, reports suggest that the platform may have expended ₹200 crore on a wedding, while the agency is actively investigating the money trail in order to determine the ultimate beneficiaries, as reported by Hindustan Times. On the work front, Ranbir Kapoor will be next seen in Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The movie boasts a stellar cast, including Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Rashmika Mandanna in pivotal roles. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, 'Animal' is scheduled for a theatrical release on December 1.
